Today’s Program: District Gov Ben Bauer
He hopes to join us in person soon and is so impressed by our venue. He is a professional in Marketing
and went to Lacrosse for graphic design. He worked in marketing for 12 years, but when he started a family with his wife he decided to change career paths. His intention was to take a couple of months off, but through a Rotarian friend he stumbled into a credit union job. He has been doing so for 6 years!
He is a proud dad and husband! Without his wife, he would be unable to do the district governor thing and be able to travel around the state to visit different clubs. She puts up with a lot and is a saint!
Understand Rotary’s mission statement: “ We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders“. What Rotary is about is making lasting change. Rotarians are all busy people, so it’s important to take a pause and realize all that rotary does. We are so focused on building club membership, and volunteer opportunities, and it’s important to think about how Rotary has impacted you personally.
Take a look at Rotary’s action plan: https://my.rotary.org/en/learning-reference/about-rotary/action-plan
Rotary Levels: Rotarian, Club, District, Zones.
It is very intentional that it is an upside-down pyramid. Rotarians are at the top making differences and utilizing clubs, districts, zones, and businesses to make differences. When you talk with a district leader, the purpose is to enlighten and feel supported. Please utilize the Rotarian leaders.
Why do you join Rotary? Why do you stay in Rotary? What does the club need? Think about those questions. Most of the time people join rotary for a reason like “job made me”, “networking”, or so on, but they stay because they are passionate about the community they are part of and how they can give back. It’s exciting to see more and more because it’s fun and exciting! If people join for one reason and stayed for another, that shows what the club is doing well. What the club needs can help you figure out what your club can do better.
The future of Rotary has more specific areas of expertise. For example, a club that is new in Minnesota is specific to veterans. There are also some specific to young professionals,
Rotary is continuing to work on DEI. Rotary wants to have a place where all feel welcome and included. Like in most organizations it is a work in progress.
A Rotary citation is an award given to clubs. It is based on clubs reaching goals set out for them such as; membership, public image, and service projects. Look ahead to this year and determine what you want to see!
Tricon 2023 is a conference coming April 27th through 29th in the year of 2023. It is in LaCrosse this year and it will be bigger and better than ever. Something new this year is a service project. It will be cheap, only about $25. If you go to Tricon Ben WILL BUY YOU A BEER!
