Happy Bucks and Fines
1. Boyd found something in his house to present to the Rotary President. He is giving it to Scott to have and pass on to future Rotary Presidents. It was a penny as an investment to the community, a paper clip to hold the group together, and a marble in case you lost yours.
2. Tara: The Topel’s Grand opening went very well. The community really turned out and a party bus even came from Milwaukee with shop owners. It was amazing and there isn’t even an adjective she can use to describe it. Many commented on how great of a community we have. Tara also went to a great conference over the weekend. She also shouted out to Steve’s who won a customer service award.
3. Jenny: Jenny is cohosting a Wine, Women, and Health Seminar tomorrow. They will talking about retirement planning, estate planning, and savings. They have giveaways, food, and wine. Space is limited, but there is room.
4. Gerard: The football game went great on Saturday (he was wearing an Illinois hat).
5. Mick: Happy dollar for Gerard who hosted a story interview at the LD Fargo Library. It was a great way to connect and bond with his kids. Today they are drawing blood from noon to 6:00 pm in the City Building. They are looking to fill 6 spots.
6. Raina: The Fall Festival of Color went great.
7. Scott: A new check was purchased and we handed it out at the Night Assembly that occurred last week.

Committee Reports or Announcements
1. We received a thank you note from the Interact Club Board.
2. There’s a night meeting tomorrow at Tyranena Brewery at 6:00 pm.

Club Business
1. Summary of Interact Program - They had around 50 kids at the first meeting. They have formed 4 committees (School, Local, Global, and the Mill). Each committee is working on some project per month. The evening 5k group presented a check for around $1600 from the 5k run, which was timely and needed because the mill has been very busy at the start of this year. We discussed having more communication between Interact and our club this year to better support each other!
2. Polio Plus Society - District 6250 Program
3. Be sure to clean your area when you’re done eating - plate, cups, etc. Eli does a lot for us but he doesn’t need to clean our places.

5. Notes from Board Meeting:
  1. We would like to provide T Shirts for student rotarians. We estimate a cost of around $500 and would come out of the marketing budget
  2. Purchased an advertisement in the school musical program (we do this yearly)
  3. Board approved $200 to be used by the membership committee for their activities
6. Photo with Pam Rodgers- LM Community Foundation after meeting at 1 pm
  1. We got a grant from the Community Foundation for the Pickle Ball net at Lake Mills Rotary Park.

1. Emily Straka from Ranger Power LLC -Solar Panel Project of Jeff Co
2. Who is Ranger Power LLC?

Ranger Power LLC is Solar Power developer and are currently working on 2 local developments near Lake Mills. They are a smaller group of developers. They started working on wind projects prior to 2015, but saw that the cost of solar was declining so they shifted their focus from wind to solar. Ranger is hyperfocused on community supported development. They meet with stakeholders early and often as well as work with local government.

Why Solar?

Solar is the lowest-cost form of energy production. It is low cost to produce and maintain solar-powered buildings. As time goes by due to technology and popularity, costs continue to decrease. Although most don’t think about solar power in Wisconsin, there is a lot of research to say that solar in Wisonsin does make plenty of money. Cost continues to decrease due to installation techniques.

Projects

Solar panels are installed on moving parts that move throughout the day to get more sun. They are installed in fields and on the tops of buildings. Space is needed between rows on solar panels to prevent shade. Because there is so much land between the panels, they are also able to plant native grasses and species. This helps to keep the land lush as well as prevent dust from getting on the panels. When working on these projects

Local Economic Benefits

The tax revenue is split between the town/city and the county that is hosting the solar lease. Additionally, the land can be restored to agricultural use. It can be a large economic boost for your local community and cost saving for energy production.

Steve: Can you sell your energy to other cities other than the one hosting?

Answer: Yes. It just depends on how much they need.

Steve: How long is your payback period?

Answer: Long-lasting investment. 25 to 35 years.

Jason: Where are the panels made?

Answer: China.
