CLUB BUSINESS - Announcements and committee reports

  • Interact club now has an advisor, Jen Iverson.
  • Last year we voted to send $2400 to a program called walk for prosthetic limbs.  Since then, more clubs got involved which lowered our commitment to $1500
  • Water project that we donated to has broken ground as of last week.  We expect pictures from Megs in the future
  • The market is partnering with the 3 assisted living and nursing homes in the area.  They are putting together gift baskets.  It costs $20 to adopt a grandparent.  Mitch would like us to consider adopting 10 grandparents.  The board approved this donation of $200.
  • 4 way test from Kurtis and Shannon
  • We recieved checks from the Davidson Family, and Brad and Lea Klotz in memory of Dean Sanders

PROGRAM
Denny introduced a new tenet in the leader building, Kaia Dorn owner of Rock Lake Nutrition

Rock Lake Nutrition is a new business and concept.  Kaia was a college athlete and wasn't seeing the health benefits of just working out.  She got into a nutrition club and lost 23 pounds after learning how to fuel her body.  Her sister also struggled with weight gain in college, but has made huge gains in weight loss and health with nutrition products.  Together, Kaia and her sister created Rock Lake Nutrition in Waterloo one year ago.  They later expanded into Lake Mills.  Their main products are shakes and tea.

Covid has helped their business grow because people are more interested in their health.  The shakes are healthy meals, full of protein and nutrients and are designed to be meal replacements.  The teas can be caffeinated or not.  They have "boosters" designed to help with health and immunity.  One example is a large dose of vitamin C.

Their products are designed for everyone.

From the start, they have been giving back through community programs like "pay it forward" and a santa for kids.  For example, on world teacher day they accepted donations and used them to provide shakes and teas to teachers in the area.

They have renovated their office space to be a hang out area for people to socialize.

They offer wellness coaching helping people lose weight and stay healthy.

She offered a free shake to any rotarian who wants to visit and see their space.

They are open M-F 7am-2pm.  They are occasionally open on the weekends.  Follow them on facebook to learn about "pop up hours"

Meeting adjourned 1:00pm

Ashley Grundman is the daughter of Todd and Sherry Grundman and has one older sister, Kayla, a former junior Rotarian.

Throughout her high school years, Ashley has been involved in a broad range of activities, including the golf team, STEM, SWELL (Society of Women Engineers Lakeside Lutheran Division), FFA, the student newspaper and yearbook, National Honor Society, A Cappella Choir, Teens for Christ, the community outreach group at Lakeside. In many of these organizations, she has taken a leadership role, including junior captain of the golf team, editor-in-chief of the school paper, and secretary (‘19) and vice-president (‘20) of Teens for Christ. She has also gone on a mission trip through Operation Go to Alaska to help plan and run a STEM camp and was scheduled to go to Utah this past summer. She had also been nominated as a Badger Girls State representative in the 2020 canceled event.

Outside of school, she is a member of St. John Lutheran Newville and serves on its altar guild and decorating committee. She has also helped lead Vacation Bible School and Sunday school classes. She works part time at James J Chocolate shop in town.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, going on adventures with friends, and watching movies.

Regarding college plans, Ashley remains undecided on what and where, but is currently leaning towards either the medical field or teaching.

“I’m really honored to receive this opportunity and can’t wait to see how the members of this community, which I’ve loved growing up in, work together to make a difference in our small part of the world,” she says.
