  • Night Club Meeting is starting work on the pyramid city run.  Start/finish possibly at Korth park.  Also thought about looking at the adopt a highway program.
  • Mick will not be present next week
  • Rotary Board voted to bring a motion to the club regarding paying our venue, Pyramid City Event Venue.  The board would like donate $1000 to pyramid city for use of the venue.  Greg R moves to support the motion.  2nd by Ed.  All were in favor, motion passed.
  • Dean Sanders update: Mick met with Jeff Thompson who sells playground equipment.  The discussed how to honor Dean with the $1500.  Jeff believes he can raise support to match rotary funds / grant with a possible end product of an entire playground.  Lori Sanders was on board.  Rotary park and wallace park were mentioned.  Scott suggested considering Bartels Beach as well.
  • Amy - Are there plans for post prom?  No
  • Ed asked about the rotary exchange program this year.  Due to covid and a short time window, our club has withdrawn from that program this year.

PROGRAM
Janine introduced Sue Madecky from the Dave Gallup Foundation

Sues brother passed away in 2008 from an overdose.  He became addicted to opiate medication a few years previous.  This foundation was created to help people suffering from this mental illness (disease of addiction) and get them the help they need

The foundation supports silver living recovery housing in Jefferson County.

Silver Living Recovery Housing - Safe housing space free of triggers that could threaten the sobriety of newly recovered addicts

Cederhouse - Womens only silver living facility with 8 beds.  About 20 women go through this program and housing each year.

Mens only house in Ashland WI

It costs $700/mo to live there which includes all their rent and utilities like internet, laundry, etc.  They are expected to get a job.  Having this stable housing with some financial expectations helps them learn how to budget and manage their finances.

Their program includes meetings and other types of support to help reduce or prevent relapse.
