2019-2020 Student Rotarian Application- Mia Kroll Hello, my name is Mia Love Kroll and I am a senior at Lake Mills High School. My parents are Dr. Chris Kroll, a chiropractor at Lake Mills Chiropractic, and Dr. Amy Kroll, an audiology professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have an older sister, Carinna, she is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and I have a younger brother, Bode, who is a freshman at Monona Grove High School. A big part of our family is our dog Luna, she is a black Aussiedoodle. We also have a bird named Buddy. I am very interested in sports, I play tennis and soccer. I am also very involved in music and volunteering in the community. In my free time I like to bake and I like skiing.

Tam very involved in my school. I have been an active participant and taken leadership roles in multiple music, volunteering, sports and other clubs. Here is a full list including the grades I was involved in them: Drama Club (9, 10, 11) President (12)

Tennis (9, 10, 11) Captain (12) Musical (9, 10, 11, 12)

Soccer (9, 10, 11) Captain (12) Spring Play (11, 12)

Basketball (9, 10) Trim Music Society (10, 11, 12)

NHS (11) Treasurer (12) Choir (9, 11, 12) Secretary (10)

Optimist Club (9, 10, 11, 12) Show Choir (10) Secretary (11) President (12) Forensics (9, 10) Link Crew (11, 12)

Ski Club (9, 10, 11, 12) Spanish Club (9, 10, 11, 12)

SLAAC (12) FFA (12)

Thave had the amazing opportunity to be a part of community involvement and community service through many school clubs in the past four years. For Trim we have done Christmas caroling around the local businesses during the winter

season. Show Choir always performs at many of the local Nursing homes in Spring. NHS has an annual blood drive that I have volunteered for in the past. SLAAC is a relatively new club at the Lake Mills High School, we plan to have an event every month and last month we read to the children at the Elementary school. Optimist

club leads in my community activities, I have helped at Knickerbocker festival, Witches Night Out, and we have filled Easter Eggs for an annual Easter Egg Hunt. One of my favorite things was when I helped out at the Annual Jr. Fisheree. I got to register the kids everytime they caught a fish and hand them free ice cream scoops. It was really rewarding to see how happy the kids were after they caught a fish, and it was a great group to be a part of.

After I graduate from High School, I plan to go to college and major in Biology. I have applied to the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and now I am waiting to be accepted. In the future I want an

occupation in the medical field. I plan to go into orthopedics but I am keeping an open mind because you never know what can happen. I want to go into the medical field because I am very passionate about science. During my time in high school | have taken biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, ag science, and AP bio. I also know that I want to help people, and the medical field is the perfect place to do that.

As a Student Rotarian there are many things I hope to learn. I am very excited to hear the guest speakers and interact with the Lake Mills Business community. I hope to gain more information about the service projects rotary organizes, and what I can do in the future to be a leader in my community.

Student Rotarian Application

Name: Samuel Denzin

Parents: Mike and Beth Denzin

Hobbies, Interests, and Family: Outside of school I like to play soccer (indoor and outdoor),

downhill ski, design and print 3D models, and competitively "speed solve" Rubik's cubes.

I also have a brother, Nathan Denzin, who is currently a Junior at UW Madison studying sports

journalism

Extra-curricular and co-curricular activities: In all four years of high school I have played on

the boys soccer team. In 9th grade I was on the JV team. In 10th, 11th, and 12th grade I played

on the Varsity team, at the time I am writing this, our varsity team has gotten to the sectional

finals in the postseason tournament and hopes to make it to state. Outside of soccer I have also

played two years of high school baseball in 9th and 10th grade, both on the JV team. This

spring I plan to run with the track team.

Community Service: In 9th grade I was part of a mission trip with the Lake Mills Moravian

Church to Mississippi for Hurricane Katrina clean up. This included repainting and re roofing a

house as well as cleaning a church parsonage and activity center over one week. In 10th grade

I went to Texas for Hurricane Harvey clean up. I spent most of my time drywalling and mudding

three houses over one week. I have also volunteered at the Madison men's homeless shelter in

10th grade when I provided and served dinner six times. I am also a member of Scout Troop

148 and have done a lot of community service through them. Part of this community service

came from helping with or carrying out eagle service projects I have helped with three eagle

projects not including my own, these included building benches, installing a pier, and

remulching church grounds at Saint Gabriel church. For my BSA Eagle Scout project I planned

and lead a project to refurbish and mulch the Lake Mills Moravian Church flower beds. I have

also volunteered a lot in my schools Junior Optimist club. Every year (9th, 10th, and 11th grade)

I have volunteered to set up podiums and ice blocks for the Knickerbocker festival. I have also

always (9th, 10th, and 11th grade) done Christmas gift wrapping for kids in need as well as

Easter egg filling for the Lake Mills youth Easter egg hunt

Post High School Plans: After high school I plan to go to college to pursue a career in

electrical or physics engineering. I have applied to four schools, Colorado School of Mines, UC

Berkeley, UW Madison, and UM Twin cities. My first choice out of these schools is UC Berkeley

as they are the number one public school in the world, but I am also considering attending UW

Madison in 2020.

What I Hope To Learn As Student Rotarian: I am very excited to learn what the Rotary club's

role in our community is other than giving scholarships to students. I am also looking forward to

meeting new people and getting to know the members of our community.
