Committee Reports or Announcements

Blood Drive (Brian B)

  • Brian talked to the head of the blood drive, and she said it is a well oiled machine! She is ready to step back, but excited to hand it off. It takes about 2 hours only 6 times a year. The blood drives are from noon to 6. The main job is to call volunteers and make sure that the blood drive is stocked. We would also be responsible for taking inventory of supplies. So overall the responsibilities are calling volunteers, picking up food, forwarding information, creating and passing out posters. Debb, Tara, Brian, Raina have volunteered to help out.

Calendar Raffle

  • needs more business sponsors. $250 to sponsor

Membership Committee

  • Will be meeting next week after the meeting so that they can start planning some future ventures.

Club Business

  1. New Member Applications

    1. Rob Lewis - Ready for Induction

    2. Wayne Garnell - Ready for Induction

  2. Assembly - We had a nice social gathering here at Pyramid last Tuesday.  Thank you to Janine for sponsoring the Irish folk band - Jefferson County Craic.  I’m interested in feedback from this event from those who attended, compared to a standard structured assembly. Thank you Janine for paying for the band!

  3. Any interest in Rotary Youth Exchange after presentation last week from Jan (Ken, Tonya, )

  4. Literacy Council Pickups around town

  5. Meals: The board voted to move forward with crawfish as our caterer.  They will be doing buffet style meals similar to 2 weeks ago.  Pyramid will be doing our meals the first Tuesday of the month.  Quick mention: It's definitely OK to bring your own meal if you prefer that over what is offered at the meeting.  Beth has stepped down from the meal ordering position so we are looking for someone to take on this responsibility. It is about 45 minutes of work a week.

  6. Many speaker dates available starting with last week in Febs into the end of the Rotary year (July)

Upcoming Dates

  1. Feb 14 - TROY TATLOCK PLEIN AIR PAINTING

  2. Feb 21 - PATTY JACKSON How to Build a Mindset that Supports Progress and Peace of Mind

Program: New Member Bios (Drake, Debb, Anita, Abby, Dan, Aaron)

Dan McCabe:

He works at the Bank of Lake Mills. He lives in Watertown, but is originally from Platteville. He is married and has 2 daughters! They love going to sporting games, movies, and concerts. They love to camp and vacation together. Dan is very excited to be part of the Rotary. He considers Lake Mills one of the 3 hometowns he has ever had. He is on the Legendary Lake Mills Board and looks forward to getting to know everyone in the Rotary Club,

Debb Lins:

Debb grew up in Darlington where all darlings were born and raised. She is a middle child and was quite the Tom-Boy with 2 siblings. They grew up on dairy farms! She went to Eau Claire and then went to UW Platteville to become a police officer as she was following in her favorite uncle's footsteps. She has 2 masters degrees. One in counseling and another to become a school principal. She was a principal in Beijing! Debb moved to Lake Mills in 2020 and is happy to call Lake Mills her home. She opened a private practice as a therapist for Opening Door Together LLC. She found out just today that she is technically full! She is single and looking!

Drake Daily:

Drake is the new City Manager. He was previously the manager at New Glarus. He grew up in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and went to college at UW Madison. Drake had hobbies prior to having his 18-month, but jokingly said he can’t remember what they are at this point! He has an open door policy and is looking forward to getting to know us all better through Rotary!
