      • Send your love to Brian. He fell and hurt his ankle severely. He had emergency surgery and is recovery.

      • We need volunteers to man the Concession Stand. Sign up VIA email or signup sheet that is passed around.
    • Movie Nights
      • The first movie night is this Friday, June 21st. The movie will be Sandlot. Brian is unable to attend. Zach will be there to help as well as a handful of Interact Students. The concession stand will be open during this time as well.
      • They are looking for one more volunteer.
    • Parade Update
      • The application has been turned in. Saturday, June 29th. The lineup is at 9:00AM at East Lake Park Place.
    • Music in the Mills
      • Meeting Wednesday at 4:30PM at Amy Winkelman’s Office, American Family Insurance.

Introduction
 
Welcome to the 5th annual Lake Mills Rotary awards ceremony-This ceremony takes place at the end of each Rotary year.
 
  • Club History and Membership Update
    • Our club was chartered on Nov 1, 1954 (70 yrs this year)
    • June 2024 -59 active members and 3 honorary members
    • This year we added 6 new members and lost 9 members.
 
  • The purpose of the ceremony is to recognize the efforts of Rotarians non-monetary contributions to the club. 
    • Throughout the year, Paul Harris Awards are given for monetary contributions to rotary
    • The honorary Paul Harris award is given for service, but the club must accumulate points for this, so it’s given very selectively
 
  • This award ceremony is broken into two parts
    • Recognitions: Here we will recognize the Rotarians who have served the club through a leadership position
    • Awards: Here we have selected recipients to receive individual awards in various categories

Lake Mills Rotary Club Board Recognition
 
First, we would like to have all of our outgoing board members stand to be recognized.  Board members meet once per month in the morning to help guide the direction of the club. They discuss the budget, potential projects, strategic discussions on the direction of the club, membership, and sift through many requests for donations.  Many email discussions often follow throughout the month on various topics.  Thank you for going the extra mile!

Committee Chair Recognition
Next, we would like to recognize everyone who has served as a committee chair. Committees are where the bulk of the work gets done for the various events throughout the year.  Many committees meet outside club meeting times, in the mornings, evenings, or weekends to lead the way on various projects and events.  Committees are also the most direct way to have an influence on the club’s activities.  If you volunteer for something, you quickly become in charge of it!

New members are important to our organization and mission.  They are what ensure that the traditions and values of Rotary continue on through future generations.  As we have heard from the rotary district, this is one area in which we excel.  While other clubs are shrinking in membership, we are continuing to attract skilled and dedicated people to our cause.

Interact Club Recognition
Next, we want to recognize members of the Interact Club at Lake Mills High School.  The Interact club acts to extend rotary values of service above self into our schools and youth.  In the last rotary year, we were happy to contribute to various projects of the Lake Mills Interact club.  It is our goal as a club to continue to support, interact, as well as develop deeper connections with the club.

These awards recognize the Lake Mills Rotary Club Members who went above and beyond over the past year.  
 
Recruitment Award
The best way to grow any organization is word of mouth referrals.  Thank you to ALL members who have had conversations with others about coming to a meeting to see what Rotary all is about.   This is a great way for us to add new members to help us make a bigger impact in the community. Please continue to invite guests to join us for meetings and for volunteer opportunities to help increase our community impact, awareness and foster relationships.  Here are the members who successfully recruited a new member in the last year.

Behind the Scenes Award
This award is given to a member whose efforts may go unseen but are still substantial.

  • 2024 Winners: Raina Severson and Ed Heimstreet
    • Raina Severson spends countless hours as our Public Image Chair and as recording secretary – she captures and sends out the minutes every week. Raina is quick to help wherever she is needed.
    • Ed Heimstreet is our second recipient of the Behind the Scenes Award. Ed picks up our student Rotarians of the month and brings them to and from our meetings every week. He is chair of the scholarship committee, which is a big job and is also highly involved in our International Rotary Efforts.
 
Perfect(ish) Attendance Award
Attending weekly Rotary meetings helps foster and strengthen relationships, stay up to date on our projects, stay connected, and share your success stories and announcements with Happy Bucks.  We encourage all members to join us weekly, but understand that is not always possible. You can attend the Tuesday Noon meeting in person or via zoom and/or a Wednesday Night meeting the 1st and 3rd Wed. of the month at 6 pm. We will use the honor system for our Perfectish Attendance.  If you have attended 100% of Rotary meetings the past year or only missed a couple, we would like for you to stand for some recognition.
 
Outstanding Contribution Award
This award is given to a member who has stood out in the last year with outstanding contributions to the club.
