CLUB BUSINESS - Announcements and committee reports
Lori Sanders has set us some memorial funds for Dean totaling $1200. Other funds have come in as well for a total of about $1300. Lori would like the funds to go towards a student based project. One idea was a Dean Sanders Memorial Scholarship for someone going into education. Mick would like to hear any and all ideas from the club on how we can honor Dean. Ed suggested an idea of lights at wallace park on the fields being consistent with Dean being a light for education.
Jenn has some gifts still from the holiday party so please pick up your donation soon.
PROGRAM
Business Meeting - Year in Review
Since covid has started, we are one of the few rotary clubs that has been meeting in person. To our knowledge, no spread of covid has occured from a rotary meeting. We awarded 11 scholarships. We got to start using Pyramid Event Venue. RYLA was cancelled. Wine and beer was cancelled, but was replaced with a successful car raffle fundraiser raising $19,000. The rotary shelter was painted and named in Jim Brey's honor. We lost Dean Sanders this year. We had to retool our meals to individually packed without catering. We had a great holiday party. We donated to projects around the world and locally. We've heard from great speakers this year and expanded our awareness to new programs and organizations. 3 Paul Harris awards have gone out this year. We have gained 4 new members this year even during this "downtime" of covid. We won the rotary citation for being awesome. Our meetings have more virtual attendance than ever. We've had 15 junior rotarians selected so far to come here in person. We have stayed active and found a way to make a difference in our community.
