Rotary Club of Lake Mills day meeting
Tuesday, June 30, 2026

 

President Anita Martin brought the meeting to order at 12:19pm. Pledge of Allegiance and 4 Way Test recited. Twenty-three Rotarians were in attendance, two Rotarians on zoom plus three guests. 

Happy birthday to Brian W. 
Happy anniversary to Jim W. (44 years), John B. (40 years) and Don B. (1 year)

Dennis Zeloski gave his intro speech. 

  • Owned Muck Farms. Father started Muck Farms in 1946.

  • Born and raised in Antigo, WI

  • Graduated from UW-Madison in 1963 with a degree in business and agriculture

  • Met his wife at UW- Madison. She passed away last year.

  • He has 4 daughters and 9 grandchildren.

  • One of his grandsons recently graduated from West Point as an officer in the US Army

  • West Point began in 1802 at the most narrow and deepest part of the Hudson River. Area was picked out by George Washington. West Point has 740 acres. Underclassmen run everywhere. 

  • Dennis followed in his father’s footsteps with farming. 

  • Dennis owns 2,200 acres in Lake Mills and Jefferson.

  • Grew many crops (certified).

  • Dennis was with the WI Air National Guard for 6 years.

  • He is in the Potato Hall of Fame.

  • He is an honored alum with UW-Madison Agriculture Department.

  • Named seed potato grower of the year.

  • Very interested in farm research.

  • Very active in many associations.

  • Dennis traveled to Serbia 6 times. Participated in seminars in growing carrots, onions, peppers, celery, and potatoes. Presented information to high government officials.

  • Dennis has traveled around the world. 

  • Hobbies include pheasant hunting, fishing, flying, cross country skiing.

  • Dennis has owned 2 airplanes and has over 2,000 hours of flight time.

Jim W. made a motion to begin process of the $5,000 grant application for cancer screening presented by Don B. Second by Brian B. Motion carried.

Chariot/wheel is stored in Janine’s garage. Thank you!

Discussion on cost of meals. Bon Tons will cater. Crawfish will not be catering Rotary lunches. Complimentary meals for students, teacher of the month and guest and/or principal, scholarship recipients. Motion made by Gerard S. to increase cost of meals from $13 to $14. Second by Janine F. Motion carried. 

Blood Drive is set for August 19, 2026 at the Lake Mills Fire Station. 

Pyramid 5K Run:

  • 10 people have registered so far.

  • Sponsorship totals $7,700

  • Sign up as soon as possible.

President Anita Martin 2025-2026 wrap up:

  • Thank you to President Anita Martin for all her hard work. Proud of our accomplishments.

  • Hosting New Zealand Rotarians

  • Art Auction Fundraiser

  • Vaccination clinic

  • Stone Soup Community Meal

  • 6 Blood Drives (Thanks to volunteers from Farmers & Merchants Bank)

  • Two highway clean ups

  • Donation of canned water

  • Speaker Ed Futa

  • 10 scholarships ($14,000)

  • Wrapped up international water project

  • Donated to Rotary International for Polio Eradication

  • Donated for computers

  • Helped with funding at the Mill.

  • Plus other activities

  • 6 new members joined this year.

  • Thank you to the current Board.

Installation of new officers:

  • President: Beth Naughton

  • President Elect: Dan McCabe

  • Secretary/Recording Secretary: Barb Cramer

  • Treasurer: Dan Sanft

  • Director/Member at Large: Carmen Weldon, Dean Westman, Amy Litscher, Nicky Kelly

Budget:

  • Deficit for June 30, 2027

  • Added $10,000 for community projects

  • New fundraiser: Pancake Breakfast

  • Motion made by Brian B. to approve 2026-2027 budget. Second by Jim W. Motion carried. 

Current projects:

  • Sunshades are in process. 

  • Digger at Rotary Park has been ordered. No other information is available.

  • Ken Stenton bench is on the way. Needs to be put together and cement poured under bench. Plan to have a ceremony at Rotary Park. More information will follow.

  • Sex trafficking conference tentatively set for September 17 at St. Paul. Doors open at 5pm. Presentation from 6pm-8pm.

Calendar of Events:

  • July 8 is the next social bike ride. Meet at Sunshine Brewing at 6pm. Helmet and trail pass required. 

  • Clawking Club – clean up while walking. First event is set for Friday, July 10 at noon at Commons Park.
