PROGRAM
Rotary Club Business Meeting
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the future of our club. Brian W, Scott T, and Jen M met and analyzed our club and came up with a strategic plan after working on a SWOT analysis. The theme this year is "imagine what more rotary can do". Scott mentioned that our impact on the community has been huge and something to be very proud of, but we can always find small ways to improve.
Strategic Plan
SWOT Analysis
What we do well
We are very fortunate to have an engaged and active club that does so much for the community and clearly loves and aligns with Rotary's mission. We have great: membership, gaining of new members, having consistent attendance and involvent, support of youth and scholarships (18 scholarships), problem-solving when there were fundraising issues, programs are consistent and quality, and we are supporters of our community.
What we can improve on
Increased awareness of what we do, increased service projects, more interactions with interact at Lake Mills High School, more social events, more connections and collaboration with other organizations, and committee structure
Scott noted that we just need to polish up a couple of things! We are doing great when it comes to a lot of things. Our attendance is great, we have consistent meals, and passion in our club. They were thrilled that the list didn't have anything "major" to fix.
Opportunities and Ideas
Scott mentioned that at one of our last business meetings we had a brainstorming session where we came up with ideas for the club. He said we need to do more of this because the list was awesome. Some of the ideas included: getting involved in youth exchanges, food pantry, more schedule options for meetings, having people sit in different places, anytime we do a service event we could be inviting more volunteers, more public events in the summer, trivia nights, games, RLAC or memorial park for prefects, a day of service (real hope), promoting the night group
Committee Focuses
Our committees have been highly active and have done so much good, we just need to polish them up a bit. The goal is to better align our committees with Rotary International. A big step will include a public image committee. We also hope to have more committee time at meetings so that we meet on a more consistent basis. The three major committee focuses this year will be public image, community service, and membership.
Public Image
The purpose of this committee is to promote club activities and our mission. We want to market ourselves better so that the community understands all the amazing things that we do. This includes sharing interesting and active posts on social media and maintaining an up-to-date website
We should have a "photarian" someone who is in charge of taking pictures at every meeting.
Looking for 5 people to join
Community Service Committee
The purpose of this committee is to find areas of need in our community and meet them to a surplus. An example was one rotary club picks up leftover bread at a bakery and drops it to a food pantry. We need to make it fun and make sure to better announce all the great things our club does.
This includes concession stand work
Looking for 6 people
Membership Committee
The purpose of this committee is to bring new members to our club and then go even further to develop those members. This could be through orientation meetings, involving new members in committees early and often, and making sure to sit next to new members.
Two things that fall under this - Holiday party, help with the awards and recognizing the members
