Program: Debb Lins

Debb Lins is from Opening Doors Together LLC. She is renting from Tom Hawkes in the Leader Building 322 N Main Street, Lake Mills, WI! Opening Doors Together LLC is in front of the Lake Mills Rec Department. Opening Doors Together LLC is a therapy and counseling center.

Her clients are not limited to anyone. She helps children, couples, adolescents, families and more. Her passion is working with veterans. On the first and third Friday of the month she hosts free coffee at 9:00am. Her mission is to meet clients where they are and help clients with their mental health goals.

Benji is her rescue dog that is on the way to being a therapy dog!

Debb’s vision is to end the stigma around mental health. Many of us have mental health challenges that we need to own and get help! Clients seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Think anxiety and depression, unhealed drama, adhd, relationship issues, attachment styles, feeling stuck, handling toxic relationships, and more. Debb doesn’t specialize in everything. She is a lifelong learner and takes classes. She is not an expert on drug and alcohol issues, eating disorders, and autism. She supports these clients, but does not take the lead.

A lot of the work that Debb does is about mindfulness. Debb gave us all Hershey kisses and asked us to use our 5 senses (taste, smell, touch, site, hearing). As we unwrapped it we smelled it, looked at it. We really took in all the senses of a hershey's kiss. Eventually we ate it and were very mindful about it. The more times you do these exercises, the more you can call this sort of calm up in moments of crisis.

Debb mentioned that you are not feeling. Feelings feel real, but temporary. You can move on from feelings. She helps clients find their voice. She helps others find their boundaries. She helps people retrain your brain how to react. She helps couples fight fair.
