Adam Mitchell

Student Rotarian Application 2018-2019

My name is Adam Mitchell, and I am the son of Renee and Toby Mitchell. I will be a senior at Lake Mills High School. I have an older brother, Andy, who was also selected to be a Student Rotarian when he was a senior at LMHS. I have a younger sister who is a freshman this year. Her name is Allie. My mom Renee is an English Teacher at LMHS. My dad Toby is an IT manager at Cuna Mutual. Some of my hobbies are performing music with the band, orchestra and choirs, playing sports such as baseball and football, and also helping younger kids achieve their dreams.

I plan to attend a four year college where I can play on the baseball team while earning a degree in Music Education. After college, I hope to teach instrumental music to high school students. I want to teach high school band because I feel like High School will be a perfect fit for me. High school students understand what the goal of a good sounding band is and that’s all I want for them. I want to attend a smaller school because I come from a smaller school myself. Also, I like the smaller school idea because that means a smaller class and that way you can have better class discussions and get to know your professors a little better. At college I hope to be involved in a lot of activities, such as theatre, jazz band, and possibly orchestra. I want to participate in a lot of music groups in addition to baseball.

I want to be a Student Rotarian because I see myself as a leader to my fellow classmates. It is important to me to always be a positive role model for younger students. I also have a personal goal to strive to always be the best person I can be. Giving back to my community through service is one way that I can work towards reaching that goal.

My plan after High School is to go to UW-Milwaukee or Winona State University. I plan to major in Conservation and Environmental Science and possibly minor in global studies at either college. I hope to work as a lab technician and make an impact in the field. I also plan to go back to school to get a Masters degree in Environmental Science.

I've lived in Lake Mills my whole life and I've seen it grow and flourish in so many different ways. I want to be selected as a Student Rotarian because being able to learn about and possibly give back to the well-being of the community I grew up in, seems like an exciting opportunity to me.

My name is Lucas Schneider, the son of Troy and Kristine Schneider, living out in the township of Lake Mills. I have a sister, Sadie, who is a freshman at Lakeside and an older brother, Taylor, married to Cassy. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, listening to music, and spending time with my friends. I also enjoy traveling with friends and family.
I participate in STEM Club, go to meets with the Math Team, and am Editor-in-Chief of the Warrior Times Weekly student newspaper. I also participated in school musicals my freshman and junior years. I’ve been part of the A Cappella choir since junior year, where we sing at almost 20 churches Sunday mornings throughout the school year. When I am not singing, I usher at my home church with my dad at St. Paul in Lake Mills. I also like to help my mom deliver flyers for the Blood Drive when it comes to town.
Last year I was privileged to be one of those chosen to assist at a STEM Camp in Alaska, through Lakeside’s Operation Go. This is a mission trip program where students volunteer their time and talents working with children or on other church activities for a week somewhere in the U.S. or even Canada or the Caribbean. In addition to my school activities, I have a job at the State Bank of Reeseville in Reeseville, as well as AKT Business Services in Lake Mills.
I plan on continuing my education at UW-LaCrosse or Wisconsin Lutheran College. I’m thinking about a degree in Accounting and Business Management, but teaching is still in the back of my mind.
It is a great honor to be chosen as a student Rotarian. I am excited to meet new people in the community and listen to how they serve. I hope to learn more ways that I can better the community around me. I have lived in Lake Mills my entire life, and I would love to know more about how my favorite city works.
