Day Meeting Minutes - 11/17/20

Mick opened the meeting at the Pyramid Event Venue at 12:15pm and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance followed with the Four-Way Test.

  • Mick - Sad buck for Dean Sanders passing, fine for paper, Son's football team played a really tough game and lost, but he really enjoyed watching 
  • Gerard - Congrats to Curtis (son) for eagle scout, sad for Dean S
  • Ken - Winning car raffle, "tipping the dealer" via $500 check to our club
  • Steve W - Partner in a business with his son Michael
  • Ed - Neighbor, sad for Dean S
  • Amy - Sad for Dean S, for Mitch for the car raffle (storing car, selling ticket, organizing).  22 businesses will be participating in downtown window decorating
  • Brian B - 4 years ago he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.  Tomorrow Brian is getting out of the hospital.  He will still be isolated at home. $5 for the "jailbreak" out of the hospital

CLUB BUSINESS - Announcements and committee reports

  • $19,300 made from the car raffle
  • No assembly next week, we WILL have the noon meeting
  • Election of officers in December
  • Reminder to stay safe with attending meetings.  Stay home with symptoms, stay socially distant, wear a mask when not eating
  • Rotary Foundation - Sandy will match up to $360 for donations to the rotary foundation
  • Mick met with the interact board as their interim advisor.  They are working on a Thanksgiving care package for people in need in our community.  They are also working on a keep covid out agenda.  Game night or trivia to be done virtually.  
  • Optimist adopt a family drive is coming up.  Meal donations are needed at $50 a piece in value. 
PROGRAM
Tonya Olson introduced the speaker, Audrey to speak about upcoming changes to school facilities in the culinary arts (from the past referendum)
 
Audrey Vincenzi - 2nd year teacher at LMHS in the culinary arts program.  She went to culinary school right out of highschool and received high honors.  After years in the restaurant industry, she decided to become a consumer sciences teacher due.    
 
The family and consumer education room has been upgraded in the last school referendum.  On Feb 24, the high school addition was dedicated.  The 6.9 million dollar referendum was approved in Nov 2018 and includes improvements in: technology education, agriculture education, and culinary arts rooms.  The culinary arts room now has updated equipment consistent with the food service industry, rather than old equipment like coil stoves that might still be found in the home.  Students are learning all manner of skills in the culinary arts to help their abilities at home or future careers in the culinary arts.
