PROGRAM
WIAA  Tom Shafranski, Assistant director, 20 years of service , Dean Sander's personal friend

Lake Mills is well known throughout the state and WIAA administration for our athletic program

High school sports have many benefits

Non school sports have boomed with parents getting their kids involved in elite organizations very early, often leading to more injuries from overspecialization

WIAA needs quality and ethical people in coaching and administrative positions

Covid Policies:
-WIAA is looking to provide a safe environment for student athletes
-Right now, nothing has changed
-There are significant differences of opinion
-Approx 33% of officials wont return
-Some coaches wont return
-Athlete mental health is declining without sports
-We have a full school year to deal with
-Some administrators have suggested fall sports move to spring and spring sports move to summer
-WIAA is prepared to run tournaments when allowed
- No major decisions have been made

The WIAA highlights many unknowns about covid and how school districts will respond, so specific policies are still hard to construct

Questions:
At home students are allowed to participate in school sports in the district they are in

Meeting adjourned 1:00pm
