PROGRAM
Mitch - A few weeks ago, a cage free egg company reached out to Mitch and they will be collaborating to bring locally sourced eggs back to his store.
Nature Link Farms - Scott Schneider
Cage free egg production involves no cages or enclosures and chickens free to roam. The overall living conditions of the birds are much higher than traditional egg farming.
The facility and process are inspected by third party organizations and meet many certifications and standards.
Scott is a third generation egg farmer.
In 2004, a remodeling process took place to enhance the natural behaviors of birds.
They produce nest run egg packing, which is uncleaned and not prepared further for retail. The eggs ship to another company who will prepare it for consumer consumption.
They expanded into growing baby chicks to become egg laying chickens in their cage free facility.
The pandemic has reduced egg demand in food service, causing a flooded market in retail and effecting egg prices for producers.
There are new corporate commitments from large buyers of eggs like McDonalds or Costco to buy cage free eggs. The demand for cage free eggs will continue to raise. State mandates have also pushed the egg market towards cage free.
