Today’s Program
Tammy Lambert - Jefferson County Veteran Services
Tammy doesn’t have a program set up and wanted to know if there were any questions. She went over the main points, but first gave cuddos to the newest air force enlisty, Megan Christian. Tammy joined the airforce at age 17. She never regretted it for a day!
A couple of changes:
The Jefferson County Courthouse is under a huge change. The Jefferson County Veteran Services is moving to a bank in Jefferson for 18 months. When the courthouse is reopened, they will be moved to the Family Services location.
There are some new veterans benefits they are excited to share. She loves to share these benefits because the community is the link to the veterans who have questions but don’t know where to go.
The President signed the Pact Act. This is an Act that extends support to the Veterans who served in the war (Vietnam, agent orange). Now the navy and airforce are covered for disability as well.
Anyone who was in the military, even for a day, and was diagnosed with ALS is covered for financial support.
For the last 15 years, it was only Tammy and a part-time secretary. She now is able to have more support staff to help benefit veterans by filing paperwork, contacting with government, and more. She hired a combat veteran to be a full-time benefits clerk and her assistant who was a combat medic. This leads to even more support!
Teeth for veterans! If you know a veteran who could use new teeth, please reach out.
Meaningful work coming soon such as tiny homes, resources to keep veterans away from predatory lenders, and more!
