Assembly Meeting Minutes - 05/31/2022

Brian W opened the meeting at the Grist at 6 pm and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance followed with the Four-Way Test.

CLUB BUSINESS - Announcements and committee reports

  • Memberships
    • No new adds/deletions.  Expecting to have Andy Barnes join us soon.  
  • Fundraising
    • Jefferson Bartending 7/16 at 8:30pm-12 am Diamond Rio w/ Alex Miller performing 
    • Lake Mills Triathlon 6/5-volunteers earn $20 each.  We will try to fill at least 10 spots.  Jenny M. will arrange for us to get a flyer for the Pyramid 5k in the race packets for various upcoming races.  
    • Concession Stand
      • Dan S. will be coordinating volunteers.  Pam S. to keep stocked. 
      • We need to stock and clean by June 6th.
      • We will host a concession stand orientation for all members.  
  • Playground progress
    • Dedication is planned for 9/3/2022.
  • Town & Country Days Parade-all voted to participate in the parade.  Do we want to use the Chariot??  Any volunteers to ride in it?      
  • Storage report
    • Lots of items found by Mick S, including stainless steel pots. 
  • International Project Dedication is 6/13 at 5 am.  We will join via Zoom. ​​​​​​​
  • Night Group
    • ​​​​​​​Working on ways to RE-connect the Day Group & Night Group. Discussed having a the membership committee assign a member-at-large join to report on day/night meeting.  
    • Pyramid 5k is 9/10.  Sponsors are coming in and limited participants so far.  We are getting flyers in the Lake Mills Triathlon packets and other upcoming races.  
    • Hi-way project -in July  
  • ​​​​​​Zoom--continue to monitor and reevaluate whether to continue use. 
  • June 21st-Annual Rotary Awards Meeting at Rotary Park 12 pm
  • Next Board Meeting June 28th at 7 am City Hall (last Tuesday every month).  All members are invited to attend each month.   
 
PROGRAM
Hannah from Jefferson County Emergency Communication joined us to share more about the work they do and volunteer opportunities available in the County.
 
Jefferson County Emergency Communications (J.C.E.C) is a group of citizens in the Jefferson County area that volunteer their time in assisting Jefferson County Law Enforcement agencies.  JCEC assists with event security, crowd and traffic control during large events such as, Jefferson County Fair, local festivals, parades, bicycle races, and more.  They are also called to help with road closures due to accidents, fires, crime scene investigations, and SWAT/tactical calls.
 
There are currently volunteer opportunities available at J.C.E.C.  This would be great to add to your resume! 
 
Ideal candidates will meet the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of 21 years of age
  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Good moral and ethical character
  • Dedication to Volunteer in your community
  • Pass a background check
  • Curious about law enforcement
