Day Meeting Minutes - 12/14/2021

Brian W. opened the meeting at the Pyramid Event Venue at 12:15pm and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance followed with the Four-Way Test.

Angie Dressel is a Senior at LMHS.  She has two sisters and is a middle child.  She plays the piano, French horn, violin, sings. She love languages - I am studying Spanish, French, and Arabic currently. 
 
She is very involved in school clubs and programs.  A few examples...
  • Show Choir-Vice President Senior Year
  • Solo and Ensemble 
  • Musical-lead role as Little Sally sophomore year, lead role as Jane Fairfax senior year
  • WSMA Treble Honors Choir
  • Play- cast member
  • Drama Club -Vice President senior year
  • National Security Language Initiative for Youth, Virtual Summer Intensive, Arabic two times (2020 and 2021) - Arabic proficiency: earned Novice High after the first summer, earned Intermediate Mid after the second summer, on the ACTFL OPI scale
  • Math team-3rd place sophomore year
  • Academic Bowl -  won individual round for English 11 junior year
  • Forensics-qualified for state in Impromptu freshman year, placed second at state in Prose junior year
  • Battle of the Books team
  • School Newspaper -Editor Senior Year
 
Community involvement....
  • Leading Sunday School music for Trinity Lutheran Church
  • Congregational Song Leader for Trinity Lutheran Church services
  • Video Streamer for Sunday worship services 
  • VBS volunteer each summer since 5th grade
  • Senior High Youth Group servant event with Trinity Lutheran Church
She plans on attending college to study language.  She is undecided on school and language of focus.  
 
She hopes to gain a better understanding of different ways I can help my community as a Student Rotarian. 
 
 
 
Tyler Phillips is a Senior at LMHS.  I am in Tyler enjoys listening to music, playing percussion instruments, and spending time with my pets; and believes that helping anyone whenever you can is a quality that is very important! 
 
As a student at LMHS, has been involved in the following clubs/programs:
  • Be The Change.-Spreading words of kindness on post-it notes around the school hallways to make people feel happy and to spread some positivity within the school.  I have also drawn words of kindness on the sidewalk with chalk for the worldwide movement called ‘Be The Yellow!’
  • Interact-Senior Yr.  
  • FFA-I have studied and developed a modest amount of technical knowledge in the field of veterinary science organized by the FFA at the WI FFA CDE Veterinary Science Skills Competition in 2020 when I was in 10th grade and in 2021 when I was in 11th grade.
  • GSA -Helped raise funds to make donation to LGBTQ+ youth in need. 
  • Video Game Club 
 
Community Involvement:
  • Volunteered for the 2021 FFA Alumni Pork Sandwich BBQ Fundraiser during the Town and Country Days Festival
Currently applying to different colleges that offer an animal science degree or a biology degree and plan to work my way up to a 4 year pre-veterinary medicine college to become a certified veterinarian and plans to get Veterinary doctorate. 
 
 
Lily Schuetz- bio
Lily Schuetz comes from a loving family which includes her parents Jason and Rachel Schuetz, and her two younger siblings, Ethan and Ella.
 
Throughout her high school career at Lakeside Lutheran High School.   Lily took part in volleyball, basketball, track, and soccer. As a senior, Lily has been given the opportunity to continue to develop her leadership skills as one of the captains for the Lakeside Volleyball and Basketball teams. She has also kept busy throughout the school years by being involved in National Honor Society, SWELL (Society of Women Engineers at Lakeside Lutheran), and student council. This year Lily was elected by her fellow students to be President of SWELL and also to be Student Body President. 
 
This past summer Lily participated in an Operation Go mission trip organized by Lakeside. She helped out with a baseball camp in Iowa and during her time there, she also went canvassing throughout different neighborhoods. Lily also lets her faith shine in her own community by helping out with youth volleyball and basketball camps. She loves seeing the kids’ eagerness to improve their skills and their smiling faces. 
 
When Lily is not occupied with school and extracurricular activities, she loves to go water skiing and traveling to various National Parks with her family, and hiking. 
 
After high school, Lily plans to attend a 4-year college to seek a degree in a healthcare-related field.   Follow in her Mom's footstep and help make an impact in the lives of others.

CLUB BUSINESS - Announcements and committee reports

  • Recap International Project
    • Dr. Kazi proposed solar energy project
    • He gave $1,000
    • Board approved $5,000 towards project
    • Benefactor from California I believe got wind of it and donated $20,000 for the cause.
    • We applied for a District global grant last week and got another $20,000
    • $46000 total raised to help fund this project
 
  • Last week we met with Wisconsin gaming auditor.  Very informative.
 
  • Sandee Macht is having her annual Rotary Christmas party at her house on 12/15th @ 6:30 pm– address is W8903 County Rd Q, Watertown.  Directions: County A north to Milford. Then right (north) on County Q. Drive on Q north of Hwy 19 by roughly 2.5 miles. County Q will turn east. After the turn, our house is at the bottom of the hill
 
  • Dec. 21st--LM Rotary Christmas party next week during regular meetinG
 
  • Dec. 28th-NO MEETING--HAPPY HOLIDAYS!   
 
  • Social bus trip to Stoughton last Thursday.  Success!
 
  • Ed H. and Aaron G. -Update on Optimist Club has $450...goal is $1200.  42 families...116 kids signed up.  Cost of food is approx. $50-60/family.  Would Lake Mills Rotary like to make a donation? 
 
  • Today is annual meeting of Rotary Club of Lake Mills.  Sole purpose is to elect officers for next year, beginning 7/1st, 2022.

    • Dean Sanders playground has started.  The old playground equipment has been removed 
 
PROGRAM

Beth & Jason Dunn Married for 30 years. They have Operated BIA Food Company for 7 years. Lived in Lake Mills for 5 years. 
 
Beth grew in Oregon (the town!).  Bachelors in Business Admin. from Whitewater.  Accounting manager, office manager, before joining Jason and starting BIA Foods.  
 
BIA Food Company vision is to provide professional and personal chef services.  Eat simple/Cook well. 
 
Jason had taken a break from the food industry for a while.   When Jason's Moms health was deteriorating in 2014,   Jason and Beth came to Lake Mills.  She really wanted to see him get back into food industry.  An opportunity was presented for him to do teaching/cooking.  His Mom passed the day after he accepted.  They started off at providing services and fine food for Lewis Station Winery.  They were independent for a few years, before Covid. Now at Pyramid Event Venue.  They feel honored to be a part of the Pyramid Family, but have some Fun things coming up!  They are passionate about supporting the community and providing meals for underserved , as well as service organizations and private parties.  They are currently providing Community Based meals for $10 that includes 2 meals for Trinity Pines residents and Club 55 members.   
 
They will be leaving Pyramid at the end of January, but plan to stay in Lake Mills.   Still working out the details.  They plan to expand the community meals to  3-4 days/week meals will will be available to pick up,  as well as continuing efforts and community support they started prior to Covid.  
 
Eat/Sleep/Cook has been they mantra!  Jason says, "We are not getting any younger.  I am no longer 25!". The new journey will allow them some time for themselves and to continue serving the community in a way that matches their vision.    
 
 
Kyra Lostetter- (pronounced Keera---Like the actress Kyra Sedwick who is married to Kevin Bacon)
She is married to Buck and they have 2 children.  Lauren and Kole attend LLHS.  She has lived in Lake Mills for 3.5 years, but she has lived in many different places.   
 
Kyra was born in Portland, OR.   Her Dad worked for United Airlines.  Growing up they lived in Chicago, Denver, and Southern California.  Went to High school in California.  Does not miss the traffic, mudslide, fires of California. 
 
Early in her professional career she worked for Cellular One/Us Cellular in Help Desk Support.  Then she did training programs for TDS Telecom.  When her kids were young she was blessed to be able to stay home with them.  She is excited and honored to help families with buying and selling homes as a realtor for Sommerville Realty.  
 
Kyra enjoys volunteering at LLHS and Church.  She also coaches Girls Golf at LLHS.  Loves spending time with friends and family and traveling.  She is excited to be more involved in Rotary and help make an impact in the community.
