Are you looking for health or dental care, but have no insurance? Have you heard about Rock River Community Clinic (RRCC)?
Lake Mills Rotary is hosting Pyramid City Trail Walk/Run on Saturday October 9th at Korth Park to help support the Rock River Community Clinic. Please join us!
Today's Guest speakers at our Rotary meeting were Kristin Wallace and Mavi Mejia from Rock River Community Clinic (RRCC).
Mavi opened with Spanish Presentation-to help spread the word that 80% of providers at the Clinic are bilingual.
Kristin-Was running Free clinic in Jefferson. She is currently the Interim Director. RRCC is looking for Executive Director. Open to referrals (CEO, COO, community minded individual, operational mangers, etc.)
They are breaking down language barrier, financial barriers, and social determinates of health
Mission to make health care equitable regardless of situation
Mavi grew up in Equador and attended 4 yrs. of Medical School in Equador and transferred to UW-Whitewater for more 3 years. Currently the Health Care Administrator/Operations Manager
Remember 2 things from today's presentation:
Sees everyone regardless of health insurance coverage. Medicare, Medicaid, Health Insurance, self pay.
Still needs community support since no federal funding. Very important to help take care of un-insured
4 clinics serving 2 counties (merged 3 clinics Jefferson, Watertown, and Whitewater and created a 4th clinic, Dental Clinic in Fort Atkinson
30 employees currently
open 40 hours/week at least 1 site -(typically Whitewater location)
Desire to become a Federally Qualified Health Center. Very complicated and expensive (have to have electronic medical record--pretty expensive $250k). Staffing levels, services offered, funds available, etc. NO money from federal government as support until FQHC.
Access Clinic in Madison is a similar Clinic
Hired a grant writer---received $300,000/year (total of $900,000)
Fort Health Care and Watertown Regional Medical Center have both helped support the Clinic for a number of years with funds and marketing support.
Wisconsin has not had a new federally qualified health care center in over 12 years.
North Lakes Community Clinic in Iron River, WI (FQHC) has been able to offer scholarships and community support with excess federal funds received. Would love to be able to help support the community in this way, too!
Need to deliver behavioral health services to help support hospitals. Can't hire until they get funds when they become FQHC.
Starting a care navigation program thru partnerships with Rainbow Hospice and other entities.
What other things can they put in place for lower income families?
Saturday Trail Run to support the RRCC
Missy Stark from RRCC Dental Clinic will be attending.
Refer/Contract/Employee-to hire behavioral health.
Most patients can be seen next day with highly qualified local providers
