St. Paul's Lutheran & Lakeside Lutheran

Mr. Wesley Towne

December Rotary Teacher of the Month is....Mr. Wesley Towne.  He has been teaching and influencing the students at St. Paul since 2024. He stays very busy at St. Paul as he currently teaches 8th grade while also serving as St. Paulโ€™s Athletic Director. Before coming to St. Paul, he taught in LaCrosse, WI.

From his students:
Mr. Towne is one of the kindest teachers I've met. He loves to have fun with us while making sure that students are really engaged and understand what we are learning. He doesn't tell, he teaches and explains, he makes it entertaining so students don't fall asleep or zone out. He makes projects fun so we actually want to do them, and gives us enough time to finish the bigger assignments. He also gives us extra study time, so much that I've only had homework a couple times so far this year. Mr. Towne is simply amazing and one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is a great example of Christian leadership. He puts the cool in school!
Congratulations Mr. Towne!

   Mr. Nathan Koerber

Our January Teacher of the Month is Nathan Koerber. He has been a Spanish teacher at Lakeside for over a decade. He has also served the student body as a coach and currently has additional administrative duties in the enrollment office. Mr. Koerber has ways of connecting with the students and often some of the kids that speak so highly of him, have never even taken Spanish classes...they just love Mr. Koerber!

Some student comments we received about Mr. Koerber are:
  • He is really nice and makes classes fun.
  • He is the best teacher with the best sense of humor and knows how to make class enjoyable and fun without lacking education.
  • He is always very optimistic in the morning, making sure everyone is having fun, and very great at explaining a different language so we can understand it better.
  • He really takes the time to get to know all of his students. He truly cares about all the students, and can tell when something is wrong without them having to say anything. He also is always in a positive mood and is always brightening people's days by singing in the hallway. Not only is he a fun teacher, but does all of that while still enforcing rules and helping students learn."
  • Always uplifting, always has a positive attitude, always smiling and always greets me and others."

As mentioned above, one of our favorite things about Mr. Koerber is the way he fills the halls and the office with singing...sometimes even "Koerber" originals as he makes up ditties off the top of his head. He was also infamous in one of his first years at Lakeside for coming up with a "dab-of-the-day" when the dab was having a moment among teenagers. Another fun fact about Mr. Koerber is that he keeps his vast tie collection in his classroom and decides each morning which one he is going to wear that day. When he is not at Lakeside, Mr. Koerber is busy at home with his wife and 3 kids or working on home improvement projects. He is also a tea aficionado if you are looking for a good brew. We are so thankful for the many gifts Mr. Koerber brings to our Lakeside family and we are thrilled to have him as our January Teacher of the Month!
